SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY / SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT Annex Class
Young Apprentices Having signed up with the Program run by Brazil’s Ministry of Labor and Employment, Petroflex has already welcomed five youngsters from seventeen to twenty years old, working the its three plants and its offices in Rio de Janeiro. Digital Inclusion Project Implemented in partnership with the Committee for the Democratization of Information Technology (CDI), Petroflex sponsors the Digital Inclusion Project, holding classes on its premises in facilities designed specially for this purpose. The youngsters selected to participate in this Project were recommended by community leaders living around the Petroflex plants, as well as by the contractor managers. Open Doors
Special Inclusion The Special Inclusion Project strives to empower people with special physical needs so that they can enter the job market. This Project assists people over sixteen years of age with special physical needs living in the Duque de Caxias municipality in the Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Region who are registered in the database of the Brazilian Institute for the Protection of the Rights of People with Special Needs.
Mentoring Project Developed by Petroflex in partnership with the Environmental Defense Network, an NGO operating in the Cabo de Santo Agostinho community in Pernambuco State, Mentoring introduces basic concepts of citizenship, human rights and ethics, as a way of removing citizens from the process of social exclusion. This project disseminates knowledge through entrepreneurship and leadership techniques, as well as innovation and creative flair. Information Technology and Citizenship School This school was created in November 2002 in Montenegro (RS) to allow underprivileged young people from local communities to learn to use IT as a way of professional training and social inclusion. The Company invests R$ 20,000 annually in the school. The Pensamento Digital Foundation and Lar do Menor de Montenegro associations also take part. Our Roots The Caroba, Inguá and Guaco environmental projects have been clustered together in order to identify and reproduce forest species native to the Montenegro and Nova Santa Rita regions near Triunfo. In the course of the year, these activities focused on engaging schoolchildren and local residents in gallery forest restoration drives. Some 70,000 people are benefiting from this Program. |
