| PROFILE
The three plants operated by Petroflex in Brazil are sized to produce 442,000 tons of elastomers a year. They are strategically located for servicing both the domestic and foreign market. Since 1992, Petroflex has invested US$ 282 million in updating its industrial facilities, as well as automation and modernization programs, in parallel to re-engineering and quality control schemes. Consequently, the anomalies rate for its products has dropped to under 1%.
Duque de Caxias
Inaugurated in 1962, this is the largest of the Petroflex plants, turning
out 50% of its total output. Sized to produce 196,000 tons of ESBR, 16,800
tons of latex and 4,000 tons of PBLH, in 2006 it produced a total of 164,000
tons. Having started up operations in 1962, its facilities consist of
117,000 square meters of roofed area, employing 790 people in the plant
directly and indirectly.
Cabo
This multi-purpose plant has the capacity to produce 145,000 tons a year
of 28 types of rubber. In 2006, its output topped 104,900 tons, with 396
people working in its 33,000 meters of roofed area. This is the only plant
in Latin America producing BR High CIS, a synthetic rubber used to produce
environmentally friendly "green" tires.
Triunfo
Inaugurated in 1985, this is the newest of the Petroflex plants, fitted
with the most modern equipment. Its 24,000 meters of roofed area and 155
employees allow it to produce 80,000 tons per year. In 2006, it produced
68,000 tons of sixteen types of rubber. This is the only plant producing
nitrile rubber used to make hoses for engines, as well as powdered rubber
that is widely used by the footwear industry.
